About Carrie Mann

As a student of yoga -
I practice an Iyengar-based style informed by Feldenkrais, every week with my teacher Nancy Finley in Aptos. I am also currently doing in-depth studies in Shadow Yoga with Scott Blossom and Chandra Easton from the Bay Area.

As a teacher -
I focus on the fundamentals of poses, structure, breath and movement while encouraging you to cultivate awareness of your own body and thought patterns to expand beyond where you ever thought you could go.

The benefits of yoga have been a strong current in my life since I began practicing in 1993. In 2008 I completed the 200 hour yoga teacher certification program and am a registered Yoga Alliance teacher (RYT 200). I was pregnant with my second daughter during my teacher training and became interested in the benefits of yoga during and after pregnancy. So in addition to the standard teacher training, I have a combined prenatal yoga teacher and doula training (with Nine Moons Prenatal Yoga) and am a certified prenatal yoga teacher through the Yoga Alliance as well.

I teach Yoga Fundamentals and Gentle Yoga as well as prenatal and postpartum yoga. And I work with many students who have had injuries or chronic conditions; my classes are designed to be healing by balancing the body's flexibility with strength and allowing you to discover hidden potential in your own body.

In addition to my yoga study and teaching, my interest in health extends to work I do as a consultant in international development, most recently in the areas of refugee health in resettlement - (CMCE, TRRN). I have also worked in Germany, Poland and the US on environmental issues.

I was born and raised in Tiburon, California. I now live with my husband and two daughters in Monterey, CA.
